OFFICE OF SURVEYOR GENERAL
ESTIMATE OF THE EXPENSE NECESSARY TO BE INCURRED FOR
PLAN OR DESCRIPTION.
The accommodation given to the Registrar General in the N.W. angle of the Supreme Court is quite insufficient for the wants of this Department, inasmuch as there are two rooms, one of which is occupied by the Chinese clerks and the other has to afford accommodation for his two clerks. In the latter case, the interruptions to the Registrar are so great that it has been found necessary to abate this inconvenience.
To afford the facilities required for carrying out the duties of the Department, in addition to the above, the Chinese printer is obliged to keep his presses, ink, and materials in a passage used as a lobby.
To Foundations 112 cubic yards @ $1.00 $112.00 To rough stone in foundations 2178 cubic feet @ $0.20 $435.60 To plinth in one course dressed with general chamfered arices To Brickwork in cement 174.24 cubic feet @ $0.85 $148.10 5371 cubic feet @ $0.75 $4028.25 To etine in window cills dressed To Building Postone in steps dressed + fried 20 cubic ft @ $0.30 $6.00 Total $1033.38The outbuildings for the Messenger of the Court, and other Departments occupying the Building, require enlargement and reconstruction as they were only temporary and are now quite insufficient. In the Hall, the Prisoners awaiting trial have a division railed off for them, and accommodation is also provided therein for some of the Golis or Messengers. It is now proposed to place the whole of these outside the main building.
